I recently had the pleasure of attending the Zonta Day of Film Fundraiser, hosted by the Zonta Club of Denver. My dear friend and colleague, Allison Parks of Conscious Real Estate invited me. Thank you Allison!
I learned about the practice of Sati, which I did know about before, thanks to an Anthropology class in college, but hadn’t thought about since then. Most appalling, though somehow not surprising to me, was learning that the practice continues to this day – though just below media radar, apparently.
The last publicly known case of a Sati occurring was in 1987 when an 18-year-old burned herself to death on her husband’s funeral pyre. Check out my guest blog post and learn more about Zonta here.
