Chromebooks Needed for Special Needs Kids – Deadline Soon!

Recently, a dear friend of mine, “Ms. T” we’ll call her (that’s her actual name in her classroom too!), brought to my attention an alarming fact:

The special needs class at her school does not have it’s own computers for the kids to learn on. The regular classes do.

Ms. T works at Eastridge Elementary. The school is a Title 1 school, which is Colorado, means that many of the children are economically disadvantaged. In fact, 67 percent of the 750 kids at this K-5 school are active participants in the free and reduced lunch program.

CAN YOU DONATE ONE CHROMEBOOK AND HEADSET TODAY?

Another challenge faced by Ms. T (should we start calling her Superwoman???), is that her class is not only comprised of children with special needs, but for many of these children, English is a second language. In all, over 47 languages are spoken at Eastridge Elementary, and in Ms. T’s special education class, approximately 32 percent are second language learners.

Ms. T: I have taught in several different schools but I must say my current school/position has the most unique needs culturally, socioeconomically, and linguistically that I have ever seen before.

Ms. T is seeking just 5 Chromebooks for her class so that she doesn’t have to always borrow, beg (she never steals!!!), or politely ask her fellow teachers to borrow theirs. To have 5 Chromebooks dedicated to the special needs class at Eastridge Elementary would make a huge difference.

Technology is what we use every day and to think that the kids in Ms. T’s class do not have the same footing when they come to learn with her is a sad reality. Budgets are also a sad reality facing schools across our country. And, hey, let’s face it, budgets are a sad reality when it comes to our own personal finances and small business finances.

Let’s remember though that money is called currency because it ebbs and flows like a current. Sometimes we have more and sometimes we have less. I have learned in my personal experience that when I give, I notice that I receive. Have you noticed this as well??? (Ever heard of that phrase you reap what you sow???)

Okay, so that said, consider this too. Donating to nonprofits can be a great way to give. I do it often especially because I am removed from the organizations and so give them money for them to do what needs to be done. I am okay with that. However, when I am able to DIRECTLY give to a cause where I know exactly what the money will be used for, it is a beautiful thing!!!

So, here’s the deal. We need five Chromebooks for these kids.

Can you or your business donate just one? (Or all five????).

All you have to do is follow the links to Amazon Smile page where you buy the exact Chromebook and headset they are looking for. When purchasing through Amazon Smile, a portion of your purchase goes to a charity that YOU pick. See how this is a win-win all around?

START HERE:

Link to Purchase Accompanying Headset on Amazon Smile – Woohoo!

Next, at checkout, simply put this info into the receiving section:

Eastridge Elementary School
c/o Ms. Nicole Thayer
11777 E Wesley Ave.
Aurora, CO 80014

And, if you would be so kind as to let us know that one (or many!!) are on the way, then I can arrange for:

  • Video thank you from Ms. T thanking your company
  • Picture of Ms. T holding a sign thanking your company
  • Custom social media graphic for your company “We Care About Kids”

These are great visuals for your social media campaign! Plus, the receipt from Amazon counts as a tax-deductible donation. Having the school’s name right there on the delivery section is very helpful and easier to document than using this crowdfunding page which Ms. T originally set up (But which has a TON of great info about the kids and heartwarming messages from Ms. T!)

Can’t donate a Chromebook or full set? Consider an Amazon gift card so we can combine and purchase one for the kids. Here’s a link to buy one through Amazon Smile.

I hope you can donate to this worthy cause and get these kids some Chromebooks! Thank you so much for reading. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at: kim@facetedmedia.com or by phone at 303-638-8042. Our deadline for donations is 12/24/16. Can you help us make this winter season a little warmer for Ms. T’s special needs class? Say yes to giving!
